This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine being in a classroom with only enough materials for a few students? My students face this challenge every day.

My students have come to me years behind in math.

They want and need to fill those gaps, but we are missing the materials to do so. When they are given manipulatives, they have the opportunity to work with the concept to build deep understanding. Manipulatives allow them to visually see the concepts that they have misunderstood for years already.

My Project

Some of the most difficult concepts for students to learn are place value, fractions, money, and geometry. These manipulative kits will allow each student to have their own set. When I am teaching these tough concepts, students will be able to actually build on the concepts while looking at it right in front of them. They will be able to explore the concepts and build deeper understanding through these hands-on materials.

These materials will allow my students to leave my classroom with a deep understanding of the most difficult math topics.

They will no longer have to walk into the next grade feeling lost. When students understand concepts, it builds confidence. You will be giving these kids confidence in their learning for years to come.
