Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach twelve students with severe disabilities in a high school serving a community having a disproportionate number of low-income residents unable to provide socioeconomic advantages for their families. Our school serves students in grades 9-12 and boasts rigorous academics, dedicated teachers, and a supportive learning environment.
Despite their physical and other disabilities, my students are eager to do their best.
They want to learn all they can in order to be successful one day. All receive free lunch in the school cafeteria.
My Project
My students need materials that present information in highly visual ways. With each puzzle students simply match up the correct synonyms with the simple illustration, boosting their vocabulary along the way. With the fishing games for additions and subtractions students practice 75 different math problems. Fractions Power Pen Quiz Cards are a super-fun way to build fractions skills with instant reinforcement .With Money Equivalency Puzzles students will fit together the equivalency puzzles, and practice identifying money values in four different ways.
Your help will ensure that our students with severe disabilities can build motor and intellectual skills needed for participation in a variety of important life skills.
