Our school is sixty percent free or reduced-price lunch and filled with beautiful diversity. We have representatives from thirty-three different countries across the world.
We are a Title l school and we have close to five hundred students ranging from pre-k through fifth grade, all coming from mixed backgrounds.
As a school, we encourage Project Based Learning and maker-space activities for students to have unique learning experiences.
I teach a multi-age classroom that includes students in third, fourth, and fifth grade. The learning that occurs among all three grades is beautiful!
My Project
My students need hands-on math manipulatives and games to engage them in math class and offer them various ways to practice math concepts throughout the year.
Students tend to get so much more understanding and practice by using manipulatives and games to show what they know.
Students tend to drown out a worksheet and then worry about what they can do when they are finished. When students are playing games and are having hands-on experiences they never want the "fun" to end.
Your donation will help purchase math kits that include games and manipulatives for students to use all throughout the school year. The math kits include a focus on decimals, fractions, geometry, order of operations and more. These materials will allow students to build their skills.
I am also asking for magnetic base ten blocks so I can easily display what students should be doing with the base ten blocks in front of them. This will help for a better understanding in the classroom.
