Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education has truly evolved over the past decade. More and more educators are finding the need to support curriculum paired with social and emotional needs.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and economic statuses but they all share the common excitement for learning.
More importantly my students show enthusiasm each and every day and consistently want to be their best! They belong to a school of caring teachers and administrators as well as a devoted group of parents. My class consists of a variety of backgrounds, various types of learners, and an array of cultures! Expectations for all of my students are extremely high, and they are up for the challenge!
My Project
Imagine having all of the wonderful resources you could ask for but not having the ability to find what you need when you need it. This is an everyday struggle in my classroom. Each year we are blessed to have a variety of tools that will help us learn, but end up using them infrequently because of our access struggle. Right now, manipulatives and other important materials are stored in plastic shoe boxes that are stacked on top of each other. When students need to access the rulers or counters that are on the bottom of the stack, they are reluctant to do so because they have to take the entire stack off or pull from the bottom, causing the whole stack to topple.
With the addition of this easily accessible manipulatives and tools storage station, all of my students, especially those who need the additional support, will be able to find what they need in order to be successful.
All students are able to learn and grow with the appropriate time, space, and resources. This project would help us accomplish just that!
