The elementary I work at is in Houston, TX. The neighborhoods, as well as the school, were completely devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Our school is finally remodeled!
My students are eager to learn and I want to instill in them that they can accomplish anything.
Students in this area are mostly low income, with 85% of students being on free or reduced-priced lunch but have so much potential to achieve greatness. Most of their families are single income and work very hard and are hardly home, but they want the best for their children, as do I.
My Project
My students are allowed to use manipulatives on any assessment they take. However plastic manipulatives make a lot of noise and disrupts the quiet environment many of them need to do their best. These foam manipulatives will allow students who need them to use them and allow students that need quiet to have a quiet environment. Many of my students are SPED and ELL so they need extra support and their test read aloud to them so extra noise distracts and prohibits them from hearing correctly. Please help my students reach their full potential and be successful in our Math classroom!
