My Students

I teach 16 four and five year old students in a play based environment that focuses on developing the social and emotional skills needed to succeed in school and in life. The students come from a wide variety of backgrounds though most come from low income families that are excited to be able to provide this early school experience for their child in the public school setting. For many of the students, this is their first school experience.

The students are curious and eager to learn and have energy and excitement that is contagious.

The best thing about the students I work with is that they are so open, honest and eager to learn more about the world around them. They relish in the small things that adults often overlook like a plane in the sky or a bug in the grass.

My Project

Students will explore with these materials during their "Work Time" which is a time where students choose what they want to do and make a plan for their learning. These materials will help provide a greater variety of choices for student learning.

Students can use the marble run set to explore the laws of physics as they figure out how to get the marble to go where they want it to.

They will also learn cooperation as they can build a bigger run if they work together.

The Bristle Builders and Zoob builders will help students discover how to create objects from their imaginations.
