My twelve first grade students are a diverse group of young learners. I have students on a range of different reading and math levels. These students love to move around, talk, and have fun with one another.
These kiddos stole my heart from day one.
These kiddos love technology, being outside, and doing hands-on activities to support their learning. All I want for them as their teacher is to give them every opportunity and resource they can to learn everything their heart desires.
My Project
My students need math manipulatives to enhance their learning. Having a hands on experience with numbers is so important for first graders. Number sense is such an important base that is needed for students to succeed in math for years to come.
Giving students the opportunity to show and explain their thinking in math expands their understanding.
Having concrete manipulatives such as blocks, dice, cubes, counters, cards, etc. will enhance their learning so much more than worksheets and oral explanations.
My students love hands on learning, but I don't have many items for them to use. I know they would just love to have so many new tools to learn with!
