I am a proud teacher of an incredible group of students with special needs at a school in Shreveport, LA. This year my class is a mixture of kindergarten and first-grade students with a variety of special needs.
My "kids" are some of the sweetest and most loving students who deserve the very best education and atmosphere I can provide for them, so I make it a point to do the very best job I can to help them become the very best they can be.
They keep me laughing and on my toes daily. I absolutely love what I do and can't imagine doing anything else. Watching my students blossom throughout the year is an incredible thing!
My Project
The materials I have requested are a variety of math and reading games and manipulatives that will be used to help support the very special needs of my students who require fun and exciting learning opportunities. These materials will help my students who are mostly visual and concrete learners.
I am attempting to purchase materials to utilize on a daily basis they will truly enjoy using that will also encourage a positive and fun learning environment.
The games will help support the lessons and help them gain fluency in the skills they need to build basic knowledge. The manipulatives will help support the lessons as well and give them a hands-on approach that will help their understanding of basic concepts in reading and math. The materials will help them become more proficient in learning the alphabet, letter sounds, and number recognition and counting in math.
With this project, I am working towards helping my students meet their greatest individual potential by keeping learning as a positive and fun experience for them. This encourages a love for learning and even helps maintain positive behavior in our classroom.
