Help me give my students opportunities to engage in and enhance their learning of pre-algebra math skills by using calculators, games, and small group center activities.
Students at our school are respectful, caring and hard working children that continue to strive to be their best. As middle school students they are in the midst of their most important years of education.
Despite many challenges, these children work hard to become school and community role models and leaders.
Many come from low income households and constantly deal with hardships and outside stressors that children should not have to deal with. Yet, they come to school each day with a smiling face and a positive attitude. They continue to put forth their best effort and are determined to achieve no matter what challenge is out in front of them. They encourage one another and strive to be their best each and every day!
My Project
This project will increase the mathematical understanding for my 7th grade students throughout the school year. Along with their increase in understanding, the students will also see that learning math can be FUN!
In our math classroom engagement is the key!
I intend to increase engagement in the middle school math classroom by providing opportunities for students to review, practice, and accelerate their learning by using higher level thinking games, manipulatives, and small group stations. By participating in these activities students will
improve their team-building, communication and problem solving skills. These life-long skills are necessary for building a successful future!
