In this second grade classroom we connect math, reading, writing, science, and social studies topics to maximize learning. Students are eager to get their ideas down on paper, and collaborate with their peers to challenge their ideas.
I teach at a Title 1 school in Las Vegas, Nevada; where 75% of our students are one free or reduced lunches.
Regardless of their home life these students come into the classroom excited and ready to learn every day. Students always welcome a challenge and are willing to help those around them.
My Project
My students will use these items every day furing our math small group rotations. These items give students the opportunity to use hands on objects to understand various math problems.
The math manipulators will be used in small group instruction with the teacher, but also during group rotations.
These items will be readily available for students to deepens their understanding of math in and out the classroom.
The center activities student will be working in groups to answer questions and deepen their understanding of math standards being taught whole group. They can also be used as a warm up activity before starting the math instruction to review what was taught in previous lessons.
