This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like when you first started to play an instrument? Not only was it a challenge learning how to hold the instrument but on top of that, you had to learn how to read the notes! Now imagine that you did not have a music stand and had to use a chair or a desk!
My beginning band students are from a high poverty school district.
They lack materials essential for a beginning band program. However, they are very ambitious and are excited to perform in their first concert in June. They come to rehearsal after school and do not get credit for this class. They practice on their own and are excited to learn.
My Project
These resources would allow them to have an even better education. These resource would allow the students to not think that they are from a high poverty district because they would be given some of the best resources available in the state. Giving them the best resources would show them that they are worth it and deserve the best. It would also allow them to practice more and work harder for the performance to come.
Your donation towards the purchase of the Manhasset stands would allow the students to know that they deserve the best.
It would make reading notes much easier. It would show them that they are going to have a band and a band ensemble is possible. The stands would add to this goal of creating an honors band class for those students that desire the challenge beyond regular music class.
