My Students

Our district is a county-wide, pre-k through 12th-grade school, comprised of students from eight neighboring towns. There is an unmistakable small-town feel when you enter our building. The support from our community is unbelievable! Our district's music program for band and choir was cut approximately nine years ago due to unfortunate budget cuts. Over the past few years, the majority of the remaining musical equipment has disappeared.

After not having a music program for nearly nine years, our district restarted the program from scratch in January 2019!

With the support of our community, we have been able to raise some funds to purchase items that are desperately needed to run the program. We have around 120 fourth through twelfth-grade band students and around 35 junior high and high school choir students! We are all working so hard to make this program amazing once again!

My Project

With the current pandemic in place, our state has put many restrictions on music education. We are currently taking our music, stands, and instruments outside each period of the day to have lessons. One of our biggest restrictions is that students can not share any materials. This means that each student must have an assigned music stand that only they use throughout the day.

Manhasset music stands have proven to be very durable throughout my years of band (as a student and teacher).

With your help, we can purchase enough music stands that the kids will not have to share them.
