My Students

The students on my campus are diverse and come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. They love anime and are always excited to talk about it when they come into the library. The bridge between anime and reading is manga. Providing students with a wide selection of manga will encourage students to read for pleasure, which will hopefully create life-long readers.

My Project

My students are hesitant when it comes to reading, except for manga! The popularity of manga has exploded recently, and students ask for it every time they come into the library. What is really great about manga is that it appeals to all students - high achieving as well as reluctant readers. Unfortunately, the library's budget cannot keep up with the students' manga requests.

In order to meet the reading needs and wants of my students, I'd love to increase the library's manga and graphic novels section.

It is disheartening when students ask for specific manga series, and I have to tell them the library doesn't have it. Students are so enthusiastic to read, and my goal is to be able to provide students the reading materials they want.
