My students are amazing! They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends. Together we imagine new possibilities for our community, our country, and the world.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Ethiopia, Somalia, and the United States. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language.
My students are the engineers, pilots, dentists, poets, and architects of the future. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.
My students love getting lost in a book. My students need a vibrant, modern, and engaging classroom library. We are on our way to becoming great readers and your support is crucial to that goal. My students have specifically asked for manga or anime books in our classroom library. The more than 20 graphic novels in this project are going to have such a big impact on my students, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Toroto, books I know my students will enjoy.
The demand is clear for manga, but we presently have zero titles in this area!
I want my readers to feel their opinions are heard and valued, and I also want to connect them with what they want to read. These titles will get us started in building our manga collection and make some happy readers!
