My Students

My students represent a group of students for whom a traditional education did not work. Many are educationally traumatized. All made a decision to come back to school to get their high school diploma. They attend my class twice a week to recover their English credit.

My Project

My students do not consider themselves to be readers. I want to create an environment for them in which not reading is not an option. I also want them to feel that they are capable of reading a book on their own. I also want to supply them with enough choices so that they have something to pick that they will love. After consulting our librarian and surveying the students, I learned that manga is the way to go.

I want my students to have an opportunity to learn to appreciate books without feeling overwhelmed.

Reading Manga is a perfect opportunity for them.
