Mrs. Swiger from Youngstown OH is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need binders to help with organizational skills as they become accustomed to changing classes and preparing for high school.

My students are creative, caring, and show a desire to learn when met with kindness, compassion, and empathy. They typically are very appreciative of efforts to help them stay organized and focused as they try to bridge the achievement gap. Most come to school each day to increase their chances of making a better life for themselves.
Many students in my classes come in saying the have difficulty acquiring the specific supplies needed for organizational purposes.
Our school is located in an a high poverty urban neighborhood. Many families struggle to meet the demands of everyday life, but all desire for their children to receive the best education possible.
Each child that enters my classroom deserves to do so on an even playing field. Although the methods by which they learn best vary greatly, they all benefit from the safe, calming, nurturing environment that is provided. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, collaborative work, alternative seating/lighting, aromatherapy, and calming music to help ensure they reach their fullest potential. They are truly an incredible group, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve them!
The binders and dividers requested will help students to organize the resources they gather/create in class in a manageable way. Our current instructional team of 4 teachers has decided to color code the subject areas to help students stay organized as they become accustomed to changing classes and preparing for high school and beyond. Blue has been chosen as the color for math, thus the choice for blue binders.
In addition to the color coordination of the binders, I have requested dividers to help students with the process of organizing materials/resources according to concepts.
This has proven to be very beneficial in the past. It is especially helpful for the large number of IEP, ELL, and struggling students that I serve.
