This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very active and energetic first graders that enjoy learning and creating. We have a wide range of cultures and socioeconomic households in our community. Because of this, many students receive free lunch; therefore, making it difficult to have the income to purchase books, resources, classroom materials, and every day items. We have approximately 85% free and reduced lunch students, which also qualifies us for a grant for FREE LUNCH for all students. My students are very eager to learn and are a joy to teach.
My Project
My students love playing games. I want them to be able to a have a large variety of math games to choose from. Students learn so much more when they are interacting with their peers. So what better way to learn to do math then through a game. There will be two completed math games and the colored pencils and copy paper will allow students to work on games. I can print from the internet. With these games, my students will be able to learn concepts while playing games. The math conversations that students have with peers, while playing games, is one of the most important factors in being able to master math concepts. This is very important to learn at a young age in their educational career. I am also asking for magnetic letter tiles so scholars will be able to spell words in a fun, hands-on way.
