This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It is a joy to teach a diverse population of students from around the world including students with special needs. All of my students love participating in musical activities in the classroom and on stage. As a diverse school that encourages inclusion, our students work together to find common ground, build a sense of community, exhibit kindness, and show compassion.
The students at my school are eager to participate in learning music and they love to perform!
My students beam with excitement when they get on stage and share music they have learned to perform with their parents, peers and the community. In class, they love to create their own music, sing, move, play instruments and more! Our students also enjoy opportunities to help each other solve problems, work on projects, have discussions, and help each other reach common goals while in class.
My Project
My students love to perform on instruments while learning music!
We are in need of mallets and rhythm sticks so that we have enough instruments for all students to use while participating in making music.
We use these items often during class.
Having enough mallets and rhythm sticks will help to keep all of my students engaged and actively learning. When my students are using rhythm sticks during movement activities that teach them about steady beat and rhythm, they won't have to take turns or use make shift instruments that I've created.
When students are performing music on our barred (Orff) instruments, having additional mallets will allow for more students to play at the same time. This will eliminate wait times, keeping the engagement level high as they make joyful music.
