Mallet Madness

Help me give my students have the ability to play the classroom xylophones. Our current mallets are so old they fall apart when the students try to use them.

My Students

My name is Jamie and I am the K-5 Music teacher at three schools in Xenia, Ohio. I serve 1,000 wonderfully creative students. My students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative young people. As musicians, we aim to expanding knowledge of music literacy, instrument families, multiple cultures, as well as improving confidence in performances (instrumental and vocal) opportunities.. These kids LOVE music class and performances. The children love performing and showing the skills they learned in music class. Each grade level gets multiple opportunities to perform throughout the year, and we would love to expand our experiences even more.

My Project

My students love the ability to play Orff instruments such as the xylophones and Metalophones. However when we use the mallets to play these beautiful instruments the tops fly off and across the room because they are so old. They have been glued numerous times and are finally at the end of their use period.

By supplying my students with new mallets we will be able to continue using these beautiful instruments and practice our skill of reading the music staff.

The students love showing their knowledge by performing and look forward to coming to music to play each week. We appreciate your support.
