I am currently a fully self-contained preschool special education teacher in a Title I elementary school in Hawaii. More than half of my students are from low income families. I have preschool students with various disabilities and delays including autism, fine motor, gross motor, speech/communication, behavior management, social emotional needs developmental delays and medically fragile.
My students are full of energy, loving, caring, spirited and eager to learn group.
My Project
Our special education preschool class needs to get ready for Kindergarten in a safe manner. My students are all at different levels academically, learn in different ways and I need to use different methods to educate my students. I have face to face students and distance learner students so I need to plan activities that are fun and engaging and be very organized. Each of my students have an individualized education plan that have various skills they need to work on. Activities I provide for each student are all different and takes a lot of planning and prepping.
When teaching my students I find the best approach to teaching is through a multisensory approach.
By using digital resources, hands-on materials and lots and lots of visuals it will help me to teach and reach my students in both face to face and distance learning settings.
