Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My classes of students are super high energy, hands on, creative kids. I have students that can take pens and mechanical pencils apart in no time flat, students that draw and measure with great precision, but for whatever reason...they struggle to make the connection that these are SCIENCE skills!

My Project

Variables are always a difficult concept for students to understand. Which is the dependent variable? Which is the independent variable? The supplies in this project will go to help students experiment and develop their own "recipes" for giant bubbles, homopolar motors, and crystal gardens. Besides being a super fun experiment, students will track and record their independent variables in order to make the largest bubbles, the fastest motor, and the most diverse crystal garden. It will not be difficult for these students to identify variables in experiments and explain their significance in scientific study.
