My Students

Nurturing the body is just as important as nurturing the mind. Our healthy school sets to do just that for our students. "Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity." - John F. Kennedy

Welcome to Pre-K!

Come on in! We ask that you be respectful to those around you as well as the materials you play with. Language isn't an issue here, we're confident you'll pick it up quickly. We learn through play and exploration so you're required to bring your curiosity and imagination. Have fun! Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious, but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious. Pre-K is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day. But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much, much quicker. They want to prepare us to be college ready. We want to go to college, but at a pace that's steady. Our parents can't help us out of the troubles that's lurking; it's not their fault! They're too busy working! It's up to you to help us keep our childhood we're about to lose, you wonderful people, the people of DonorsChoose!

My Project

Our healthy early childhood public school made the switch to a healthier lunch menu option. Since our school opened, our philosophy has always been to educate our students on the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle. We often forget the importance of health in academic success. With a healthier vegetarian lunch menu and a comprehensive fitness and nutrition education program, our students are off to a great start in life. Although our pre-kindergarten students benefit greatly from the healthy lunch, they do not take part of the wonderful Fitness and Nutrition for Kids program we have for our kindergarten to 3rd grade students. It is up to the pre-k teachers to integrate fitness into our schedule. Our pre-k students fulfill this need during outdoor play. The tricycles will help our students develop gross motor skills. The balls will help them develop fine motor skills as well as hand eye coordination. All this while teaching them the importance of living an active life.

Your donations won't only help improve my classroom, it will also improve the lives of my young students.

Bad habits are hard to break. Good habits need to start early to ensure that they last long and hopefully forever. Please help me help my students develop great habits to live a long, happy, and healthy life. Help them move to improve!
