In our classroom, we are family. We have 24 kids that come from all different families and walks of life. Being located just outside of Champaign, IL, some students come from all over the world, yet some have never left our county. The special thing is that they come together and mesh as one family. I teach students with severe disabilities, with multiple intelligences, as well as kids who need extra movement in the day to learn. We are all included in our classroom, where we work together as a team.
My Project
21st century learning is moving towards an emphasis on science, math, and technology studies and activities; students learn best when using their hands and being engaged in their materials at hand. My students are no different; they love to explore and use their hands for building and learning. All of these hands-on learning activities will give my students a chance to collaborate, communicate, and work with their teammates.
By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student collaboration and communication opportunities, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
All of these building options will help students increase their science, math, and technology understanding. Using the Sphero Mini Robot will help my students learn how to code and program objects. This is important as students are exploring with their imaginations and designing movements for their robot; this robot integrates science, math, and technology learning all into one format. The magnatiles and brainflakes also help them use their creativity to build and increases their overall engagement in learning.
