Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing despite many challenges at home and school.
My students live in an area of high poverty and qualify for free or reduced lunch.
35% of my students speak Spanish at home and is their first language.
My students are motivated, inquisitive, and always ready for more knowledge!
They love music class. By the time they leave elementary school, they can compose, read, and analyze music using 15 different rhythm symbols and the pentatonic melodies.
Most importantly, they've learned music from many cultures and learn American history through song.
My Project
Music has always been about personalized learning. But if students are working on different musical examples in the same space, it gets tough to concentrate!
We also know that some students have sensitivity to sound.
By using electric drum pads with headphones (we have the headphones!), students can control the volume of what they are hearing and practice in peace!
This will be a center in an elementary music classroom! By having a quieter classroom overall, this will help all students' concentration in the room. (he room gets to 90 decibels just from 7-8 small drums playing at normal volume!)
We received 4 Electric Drum Pads from a previous project. Now we are asking for 4 more in order to get more students in the rhythm center at the same time while still keeping the volume down.
