My students are culturally diverse. Their diversity is their commonality, however. My students don't focus on their differences. They accept each other as they are. This is what makes them special in my eyes.
My students are curious.
They seek to explore the unknown and they prefer to do that in a hands-on manner. A majority of my students don't have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities that support or enhance their education. School is often their only connection to a brighter future.
My Project
The Dash Robot is a user-friendly robot that is going to enhance my students' foray into the world of coding and robotics. They have limited opportunities to practice their developing coding skills and they are ready for more!
Providing my students with resources that many of their peers already have available is a top priority for me.
I want them to have the same opportunities that others have, because I know they are capable of more than they realize.
STEM activities are great to capture their interest. Robots are the perfect tools to draw them in and hook their imaginations. Actually coding the robots and realizing that their actions and commands put them in control is a necessary component in the next step of their coding journey.
