Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school has an extremely diverse population. Nearly half of the students are from low-income households. The students are hard working, high achieving and deserve the best education.
Students in the technology age learn better when the best technology is involved!
My school does not have one-to-one computers like some schools now have. Students engage well with visual, well-organized and interesting materials. The classrooms at my school mainly have desktop computers that do not provide the same resources as some newer technology.
Students are extremely hard working and driven in the classroom, given a teacher who provides them with relevant and relatable content. In my classroom students work collaboratively to solve the most rigorous problems. Through this work, my students gain the problem-solving skills necessarily to be successful in which ever path they choose for their future, whether it is college or an alternative career path.
My Project
The Surface Pro tablet will make a huge difference in making math more accessible to my students. The best feature of the tablet is that I can write notes directly on the tablet and students can see the updates in real time in the classroom. I can then directly upload the notes and materials to One Note where my students can review what they learned and also have access to content they may have missed when absent!
Having notes posted directly to One Note in real time will help visual learners gain the skills necessary to succeed in class!
A new strategy in education is the flipped classroom. With the surface pro, I can upload materials onto One Note before class for students to review prior to class time. The flipped classroom helps provide more time in class for collaborative problem solving to occur.
Students engage in class when they learn through a medium that they are comfortable with. In this time period, students are in constant use of technology. Traditional white board or black board learning is no longer engaging for students. The Surface Pro will allow me to bring technology into the classroom and keep students on their feet!
