Making the Case for Revolutions

My students need 46 copies of "Les Miserables" in order further their understanding of the French Revolution, the Latin Revolutions, and literary analysis.

My Students

The students of Franklin County High School are truly special. They are the types of students that are aware of the limited resources they have in the community but aren't discouraged by that fact. This semester my English students will be learning a new way for our community: through Project-Based Learning. They will be learning World History from 1500-to the Present and English in a collaborative classroom. Through producing projects using both History and English concepts, they will better experience and understand such content. This is exciting for my students because they are just the type of students that will benefit from this learning style.

My Project

As a teacher, I do not have enough in my teacher fund from the school to finance all of the copies of "Les Miserables" by Victor Hugo. These books are important for a project that my students to be doing this year. They will be investigating the French Revolution and Latin Revolutions.

During this investigation, they will also explore moral character and the greater good of people through analyzing "Les Miserables".

They will explore concepts of literary analysis, formal court procedures, intricate details of what makes a revolution, and persuasive strategies to prepare for their final project of defending a famous revolutionary.
