This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of kindergarteners. They are happy children who are eager to learn. They are learning English as a second language. Many receive free or reduced price lunch. They come from low-income households. Many of the students don't have the ability and the tools to access learning online. They are learning without the resources they need. Being away from school settings, students are struggling with keeping up with remote learning. Despite the difficulty, my students are trying their best to submit their work into ClassDojo portfolios and joining the Zoom meeting for learning.

My Project

This past spring, our students were thrown into the chaos of Covid-19 and remote teaching. They were forced to face learning at home. Many of my students had to face this while sheltering in-place with limited learning supplies. Families face financial hardships as many lost their jobs or must take time off of work to care for their children.

With the limited income their parents may bring during this difficult time, school supplies may be the last item on their shopping list.

Many students depend on school to provide the necessary learning materials to best prepare for the school year. I would like to provide students with learning materials they can use as they enter kindergarten. A fresh set of new school supplies will help students look at the school year with a positive attitude and allow them to start fresh.

I will provide the students with pencils with a pencil grip, a writing journal, 2 folders, a glue stick, colored pencils and crayons so students can be prepared to start the new school year with fresh school materials. They will have a pencil pouch to store their school supplies. Lastly, students can also use the whiteboards to write work while learning in a digital platform.
