My students need practice with sight words and vocabulary to help build the language gap.
As teacher at a Title I school, my students and I are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the challenges I face of budget, I am motivated to provide my students with an inspirational and exciting learning environment.
Many of my students receive free or reduced lunch and other services to help meet their basic needs.
Despite their hardships, they are eager to learn and I strive to help them feel safe and cared for at school. They are at the age where they are curious and love to be hands-on and active in their education. My students are challenged academically on a daily basis and encouraged to use their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. I service a heavy population of English language learners. They are eager to learn and try their hardest to build the language gap. This projest will help me in making this fun and less frustrating for my students. The games are fun for them, however the repetition of seeing the words will help their progression. The possibility of partnering up students to work collaboratively will help them hear from their peers. The collaborative opportunities will allow for students to have a boost in confidence that they are able to help a fellow student, as well as the academic benefits. The sight word puzzles will allow students to not only see the word but take part in putting the words together. This project will hold great value in my classroom.
