Do you remember having to wear goggles for a science class? They were uncomfortable, smelly, hard to see out of, and they fogged up. Help save my students' eyes: give them goggles that are comfortable to wear so they don't keep sliding them up or pulling them down during labs.
I teach some 9th graders, but the majority of my students are 10th and 11th graders taking Chemistry or Chemistry II.
Over half of our population qualify for free or reduced lunch. We are a mostly rural school, with students coming to our school from some smaller towns nearby.
My Project
Having new goggles that won't give "Raccoon Eyes" and that are stylish (as safety goggles go) will hopefully influence my students to wear them during lab activities. By doing labs the students will be able to experience the text book knowledge come to life. They will be able to transform ordinary compounds into different substances with characteristics different from what they started with. I hope that this will help them realize Science can be cool and exciting by allowing them to get interactive and do more dynamic laboratory activities.
Your donations can help bring a topic to life through the hands on interactions it will allow.
Students can realize they can be successful with a topic that they did not like or find interesting before. It might help a student to realize a love or passion that they did not know. The materials will be used for education, innovation, creativity, and safety.
