This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is part of a Title I school; all of the students are able to receive free breakfast and free lunch. Additionally, my school serves students from two Section 8 federally funded housing areas. Many of our students come from single family homes and many are economically disadvantaged. The classroom environment I strive to create for my students is a positive one that meets their academic, emotional, and social needs.
My classroom is made of a lively bunch of students who love to learn and love to move!
Although my students are different in many ways, one thing they seem to have in common is they love to explore! My students love to learn in new ways and I strive to create a classroom environment that supports their thirst for knowledge. I want to build a classroom full of life long learners! I want my students to leave my classroom with the idea that learning can take place anywhere and in many forms.
My Project
After a two year hiatus from teacher science, I will be back at it this fall! I am looking for a way to revamp the curriculum for my students. I want them to feel engaged and invested during science lessons.
The materials in this project will help my students to create engaging interactive notebooks they will refer to throughout the entire school year!
The interactive notebook resources will help students engage in learning this vocabulary heavy subject. I want to help them make notebooks they will want to study and reference throughout the year. The notebooks will include a variety of foldables, sorts, and review flash cards.
In Virginia, 5th graders take a state standardized test on both 4th grade and 5th grade science curriculum. We have a lot of standards to learn and review. If students do not remain engaged they will quickly burnout. The materials in this project will help to keep my students excited about learning. With your help, I will be able to achieve this goal!
