Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Third Grade/Gifted teacher in East Harlem, New York. My goal is to make Science come alive. But doing so requires real life experiences. Unfortunately this is an area where most of my 26 students are lacking. In order to make Science meaningful, they need to be immersed in nature, involved in weekly hands-on experiments and have the opportunity to truly become Scientists. This can successfully be done with the proper materials but in a crowded public school this is sometimes difficult. My school is fortunate in that teachers work together to support each other and students but a lack of materials hinders our students' experiences. This is why I am asking for a life cycle models pack. This will help those students who have never held an insect or have never been to a museum, see and "feel" each phase of growth a butterfly and a frog go through. They can truly own this experience in a way that cannot occur with textbooks and pictures. Your generous donation(s) can make this happen.
