My students are struggling readers who are eager to learn and explore the world. They work hard to improve their reading abilities and try to take advantage of the resources available to them. However, most of them do not have access to these resources outside of school.
My students are very diverse, coming from all walks of life.
My school is a low income, public charter school with a focus on STEM. We provide a safe environment to families and students. We serve students in grades K-6th. We strive to get students ready to go to college and to give them the tools they need to succeed in life.
My Project
The items requested though this project will help my students in a few different ways.
The requested picture cards will give my students real, not drawn, examples if items while working on their reading and language skills.
This will be especially helpful for the ELL students I work with, helping them to build unknown vocabulary.
The stapler and staples will give me the tools to make real looking books out of the printed off versions I have. The students work with printed off books everyday. This tool will make it easier for me to make them look like real books.
Finally, the bags will give the students I work with a durable place to store and transfer their book from school to home and back again.
