Every day, my students come into class with a smile on their faces and eager to learn.
All of my students love to read. My responsibility as a teacher is to provide them with the foundational skills they need to become proficient readers by the end of the year.
My Project
Reading is a big component in first grade and I want to provide a positive learning experience for my students. Currently, I have a small library in my class. With the addition of these new iPads, it will provide an additional resource for my students. It will also allow them to access different levels and genres of books that will fit their individual needs. My English Language Learners and beginner readers will have the access to audio books online, which will model fluent and expressive reading. For my advanced readers, these iPads will give them access to more books, which will help them continue to build fluency and reading comprehension.
No matter what the student's skill level is, everyone will have access that will fit their needs with a high tech resource like iPads.
By the end of the school year, I would like my students to not only learn the foundational skills to read, but to become avid readers. These iPads will help build a virtual library in my classroom and open the doors of opportunity for all of my students.
