Making Reading Fun!

My Students

My students are hard working individuals who, with the right tools and guidance, can break the mold. They have brilliant minds and untapped potential. I teach fifth grade students in a Title I school, which has a population of 86-90% at-risk of not graduating high school.

My students quite often cannot afford the basics for school supplies, so asking parents for wish list items is out of the question.

I already contribute a large amount of my own money towards my classroom, whether it is for supplies, furniture, or books that the students enjoy.

My Project

The ability to work in small groups is critical for student growth. These games will help students process concepts, such as text organization and comprehension. This will be another way for students to process literature and apply it in a manner that allows them to be successful.

These materials will allow students to practice skills in a smaller group setting.

It will be a fun way to apply knowledge of more difficult concepts. Students seem to grasp and retain information when it is presented and applied in multiple manners. This will help to ensure that learning is fun.
