Our elementary school is a culturally diverse school of nearly 600 students, with approximately 80% of these students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. I have been teaching at this great school for 16 years now. The students are smart, creative, and so much fun to be around!
As the school librarian I love to introduce the kids to a variety of experiences that tie to what the kids are reading and learning about.
We have begun using different makerspace activities that allow the children to showcase what they have read and learned about it new and exciting hands on ways that will benefit to them academically.
My Project
I am fortunate to teach some very creative students, and I am always looking for a way to expand on their books and stories they read. Being able to utilize the 3D pen resources I have requested will allow my students the ability to take the stories they have read and create something 3-dimensional to connect or represent to that story.
Having materials that allow a student to creatively express themselves and make connections is essential to a student's education.
All students learn and express themselves in different ways, these 3D pens and materials will allow me to offer my students a multi-sensory approach to their learning that will help them connect more meaningfully to what they have read, increase retention of what they have read, and allow them a creative outlet to express themselves.
