My first grade students really enjoy reading. We have one rug that they all try to read on. I would love to be able to offer more comfy corners with leveled readers to encourage all my students.
My first grade students are excited young readers.
They just can't seem to get enough literature. Since my students' reading levels vary everyone would benefit from a comfy corner packed with leveled fiction and non-fiction readers. My class deserves a warm and encouraging atmosphere that would help them become the best readers they can be.
My Project
During our reading time students share one rug or sit on the hard tile floor. The resources I am requesting will encourage more independent reading away from any distractions. I also want my class to feel successful when they read. Having a variety of leveled readers will provide children with the opportunity to select their "Just Right" Book.
Reading is so important at all ages.
But to inspire and encourage children to keep reading they need to feel successful and comfortable. By giving my class a variety of books to choose from and a nice comfy spot to read in we can help children love to read.
