Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are Special Needs students that need help one on one with Math and Reading. We did have workbooks, but due to budget cuts, we can not order them. We are situated in a high poverty area in the city of Oklahoma. W, Elementary is a Title one inner city school. Nearly all students are from low-income households. Everyone in our school is on free or reduced lunch. Most of the students do not have access to a computer at home. Their families rely on the technology we have at school . Unfortunately, we don't have enough technology in our school to support our student's learning and prepare them for the future.

My Project

My students have special needs and they love to use computers and they also have a hard time with handwriting. They are also learning to type. This skill is crucial in their education. Thus, they will need to type their projects and essays in middle school, high school and that is where they will go after they have been with me. With the latest budget cuts in our district we have made it very difficult to have enough copies for my students in math and reading. A printer in the classroom will allow my students to print their work and display it.
