My students need the materials and manipulatives like puppets, magna tiles and baby dolls to expand their thinking to support their imagination beyond the computer screen during their purposeful play time each day!
My kindergarten classroom is full of 22, 5 and 6 yr old kiddos! These little people are creative, eager to explore and learn! I would love to provide a variety of toys for them to use for a more purposeful play experience.
Some purposeful play materials I would like to add to my classroom would be puppets, felt story pieces to use on our felt board, babies, career vests for them to be cops/firefighter etc., play tool set, magnatiles and marble towers to challenge their strategies and having them think outside the box!
I appreciate and thank you for taking the time to check this out, as play is important to these little learners!
My Project
The materials listed in this project will be used on a daily basis by kindergarteners during their free choice time. At this time in our room, students make independent choices around the room. Wether it be coloring, building with play dough, making and creating stores and shops in our dramatic play area, etc. These materials will give our students a variety of choices that will make play more purposeful in our classroom by giving them the manipulatives and toys they need to support their ideas. I believe these materials will improve student engagement during our free choice time and allow students to expand their horizons that could stimulate new and better ideas!
