I work in a very large elementary school in a suburban neighborhood in Virginia. Our school has over a thousand students and is growing because of lots of new development being built around the school.
Our school is a "Leader In Me" school.
Our school teaches the Franklin Covey's Seven Habits. My students love to work on Habit 6- Syngerize in music class as it takes lots of synergy to create music! My students love to shine as leaders throughout the school, especially in music performances.
The population at my school represents students from many different cultures and economic backgrounds. `
My Project
Our school has taken on our very first broadway musical production in the school's history. Our fifth grade students will perform Peter Pan Jr. this year! They have been working hard at learning their songs and script. They are leaders and they can't wait to show of their leadership skills on the stage. We currently do not own any costumes, props, or sets of any type.
Our students need a little help with some costuming and props.
We have fairies, lost boys, pirates, indians, mermaids and more that we are trying to get to have an unified look. We would like to purchase some skirts and wings for our fairies, some hats for our lost boys, Indian feather headbands for our Indians, flower clips for our mermaids, and a fish net so that our Indians can capture the lost boys!
