My students are an amazing group of 1st graders! They come from a variety of backgrounds and speak 5 different languages. They are tech savvy and love to post their work and share their learning with their families through an online platform called SeeSaw. In addition to sharing with their families, they love to share their experiences with other classrooms in their grade level and school.
They believe the the power of struggle and face classroom challenges head on with joy!
Helping and encouraging others is one of our daily classroom commitments we make to our classroom family. In our classroom, there is a love for learning and for each other. We value productive discussions and using the wealth of knowledge we have in each other.
My Project
My students are using online platforms to share their learning with their families. We post examples throughout the day. Students upload pictures and then can explain their learning. My students love explaining their thinking, reading a challenging book, and even asking questions for their parents to answer about their work! My 1st grade students use this platform primarily to share their reading. They read texts, share how they overcame challenges in their reading, and create book reviews to share with their families and classmates. They are very tech savvy and have even shared how they use this app with other classrooms in our school!
My students need headphones with microphones to use with the iPads.
The headphones and microphones will ensure that all voices are heard in our classroom. When you have 25 little voices talking at once, it causes a lot of overlap. Some students are gifted with a powerful voice, while other voices are powerful yet quiet. It is my desire that all children know their voice and words are important and these headphones will aid them in this endeavor.
