My students need materials to build insect traps! They can make pitfall traps, panel traps and pollinators. They can take these home and catch insects, place them in clear jars to transport back to school.
I teach 3rd/4th grade students who mostly are from low-income families. The support and love they get from school really makes a difference in their lives. We try to teach them to be good citizens and grow into hard working adults that will contribute to society.
They come to school excited to learn and we want to foster that love for learning to help them grow.
Giving them opportunities they might not ever receive if we did not have support from the outside world. Thank you!
My Project
My students want to study the different species of insects living in our region. They decided the very best way to do this is to build traps that would not harm the insects and bring them into class to study them.
We are asking for materials to make panel traps, pollinators, and pitfall traps.
They will make these at school and take them home to set. After catching insects they will transport them back to class in bug jars and we will begin to study the type of insect and its family.
The tall clear silo cups with lids will make our pitfall traps, the other supplies will make the pollinator and panel traps. The activities around this project are meant to excite students and bring the bugs into the classroom for further investigation. Hands-on learning is the best way to learn about the bugs in our area.
