I will have twenty-five third grade students in my class. I teach all subjects. My elementary school serves over 700 students in grades PreK-fifth in a rural area of Arkansas. Approximately 45% of the students in my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
The economic and cultural diversity at my elementary school is rich.
Students are not only economically diverse, but they are also culturally diverse. I am excited to teach my students this year. The sky is the limit with my students!
My Project
I would love to get supplies for a maker space/STEM challenges within our classroom! Students get time each week set aside to research a project of choice for their genius hour. Genius hour is a time that is so loved by my students, as it is freedom to take their interests and really delve into them.
I would love to be able to give them supplies to create ways to represent their learning and what they know!
These supplies would also be good for STEM challenges within the classroom, and we do these fairly often. These challenges involve science, technology, engineering, and math. When students engage in STEM challenges, they are working with others, building their own human capital, and those soft skills that are so important for the workforce and just life in general! I would love to be able to give them the supplies they need to be able to create and learn new ideas!
