Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students received the thrill of a lifetime this year. They were told that the San Bernardino school district would be bringing back sports to elementary school!
Our school is home to nearly 500 students, and over 90% are from low-income homes.
Their families often do not have the means to allow them to participate in extracurricular activities. My students are bright, curious, energetic, and so excited to uncover hidden talents through sports. Please help to make this a great season!
My Project
We need practice vests, cones, a bag to hold practice balls, a keeper jersey, and a ball pump for the soccer team. These are all the basic essentials necessary for a soccer team to practice. It is so important for young people to understand and exhibit good sportsmanship. It is also necessary for educators to intentionally and explicitly teacher character traits. The focus of our district's elementary sports program is to teach the students the importance of character, class, and sportsmanship.
At our school site, we are already embedding character education into their physical education lessons as well as in our Reading Intervention Lab.
This soccer team will give us another avenue to help build our students into amazing citizens of the world! We could not be more excited to roll this season out and watch our kids love of soccer grow!
