A typical day in our classroom includes rigorous instruction in mathematics, writing, reading, and problem solving. Our class goal is to have all students on fourth grade level, or at least approaching fourth grad level. "If there is footprints on the moon, don't tell me the skies the limit".
Our school, and classroom is a very inviting community.
The students are very diverse in ethnicity and learning. Many of the students in the classroom are emotionally disturbed, or have some sort of learning disability. We are working daily to help the students reach their full potential. A lot of the work in our classroom is very repetitive, due to the students learning disabilities. We use many graphic organizers and scaffolds to assist us while doing our work. Our class is hard working, and motivated to reach their goals.
My Project
During many of our lessons the students are using graphic organizers and scaffolds to assist them while they are completing a task. These organizers help keep the students work organized, but also break tasks down step by step for them. It can sometimes take a very long time for the students to copy things into their notebooks, which takes time away from their learning. A printer would allow us to have these graphic organizers whenever we need them. We use our whiteboard everyday for instruction. Ours is old and has many marks on it which makes it hard for the students to see sometimes. A new board who help the students to see more clearly while we are learning. A sharpener would help the students to focus less on sharpening their pencils manually, because I would be able to sharpen it quickly for the students during the day.
The donation will help to improve our classroom by keeping it more organized, which is an important factor for my students.
The students will be able to focus and see more clearly on the new whiteboard during our lessons. We will not have to continuously stop to clarify what marks mean. The printer will give us access to various graphic organizers throughout the day, they I may not know we need until we are doing an assignment. The sharpener will also help to alleviate any issues about pencils.
