Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a very low socioeconomic status. Our school is located in the 5th ward of Houston. Our student population is 60% Hispanic, 38% African American and 2% Caucasian. The school is located next to low income housing.

Our school has a few STEM products which have motivated students to want to do more projects.

I have noticed our students like hands-on activities, and having the requested 3D printer would provide a great opportunity for them to be able to explore other avenues of the world!

My Project

My students got their first experience with STEM in our after school club which was graciously funded by DonorsChoose.org. We received some awesome items that the students built and programmed to work. They build batter run cars, circuit robots and hydraulics engineering projects.

We are now ready to take our creativity a step further by getting a 3D printer.

I believe my students, who would not have this opportunity without this funding, will use this 3D printer to increase their technology creativity immensely. I would like for them to learn the basics of 3D printing and let them come up with projects they would like to create.
