Mr. Kraimer from Minneapolis MN is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students and the community they come from this wireless microphone set that can be used in our auditorium for student performances and productions.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come from the heart of Minneapolis. They are talented, but afraid to show their talents most of the time. When I can see a student "get it," it is an amazing feeling, and sharing that with them only makes them want to do more.
With students back in school they are working through the challenge of distance learning and looking for ways to connect intellectually and socially.
They endure, sometimes struggle, but when gently nudged, will step up to the challenge. They are proud of who they are and where the come from and are looking for their moment to shine.
All of our students want to learn and express themselves in many ways. They have a voice needing to be heard. An idea to share. A feeling to express. A song in their heart just waiting to be sung! And what better way to do that than with a 600+ seat auditorium, the stage lights on, and the students with a working wireless mic in their hand.
These microphone will help our students find their voice and speak their truth or show their skills.
As the students progress in their public speaking skills, they will be able to do team and independent work to build their confidence and socialization abilities. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but on the stage as well.
All of our scholars can utilize these new microphones, whether they are in Creative Media, Dance, Social Studies, Journalism, or any of our classes as a collaboration with other classes. Right now we have two handheld wireless mics and they don't always work properly.
When it comes down to it, students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not have to worry about whether their materials are going to work. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
