My students need safety and security measures for them to feel comfortable when learning. My school is in need of emergency ladders for our second story classrooms.
I teach in a rural school district in southwest Ohio looking to better equip our upstairs classrooms with safety measures. With the increasing number of school shootings happening in our country, I wanted to do something to better prepare our school. The mentality of "this would never happen in our school" doesn't work anymore.
My students amaze me everyday with their kindness and motivation to succeed.
I want to be the type of teacher that not only can prepare them for the future but can also protect them if the situation arises. My school district is not a wealthy one, we are working to expand our class options and technology, so any spare dime goes to those projects. Little is left for safety and security. With this Donor's Choose Project I can provide us with more safety measures without taking away from our academics.
My Project
Students need to feel secure during the school day. With the addition of the emergency ladders, it will make a difference in the lives of those students on the second floor. They will know that there are several safety measures put in place for their evacuation, in the event that they would need to leave our classroom quickly.
School safety has become a top concern for teachers, students, and parents within my school district.
We are in need of help to make these safety plans we have become a reality. The additional one bear claw I am asking for is to pilot this idea and to make sure it works with the doors we have to our classrooms. Thank you in advance for your support!
