My students live in an urban school district with a high percentage of families that qualify for free and reduced lunch. As a math teacher, I understand the struggle with learning high school mathematics. I majority of my students struggle with math. I teach an introductory Algebra Course for struggling learners, as well as Geometry, Statistics, and AP Statistics. My students are rock stars! They want to learn. They crave knowledge. I love my students and the community in which I teach!
My Project
This project includes materials to revamp my mathematics classroom. The pillows, fun math pillow cases, and tapestry will be used to create a flexible seating area, where students can work on hands on math activities and computer based projects. The calendars will be used to highlight classroom and school events, as well as student birthdays and achievements. The posters will help to create a fun math environment where students know that mistakes are expected, accepted, and encouraged! My goal is to make my classroom an inviting area for students to learn. I want them to feel comfortable both physically and mentally.
