Making Music With iPads

Help me give my students the technology to learn music notation and rhythms, and also create music and presentations about music. Students in my music classroom work individually to create music and learn music theory by using iPads.

My Students

What makes my students great? They are high energy learners who are learning to use technology and life skills through many activities in our class rooms. We are part of a small community in northern Wyoming where living can be rough and tough.

Many students live on farms and ranches, and working hard comes with the territory of completing a task in a timely matter.

Children learn to raise farm animals and hunt for a living and survival. The skills they learn from these activities are ones they use for a lifetime.

Some students also come from lower incomes and school is the only place where they can experience the world in all of its colors, music, and cultures. The children who come from lower incomes don't necessarily get the exposure to the world at home. We hope to share the world with them through school.

School in our small corner of the world is where students can get more than just an education. They get life skills that will take them to all corners of the world.

My Project

Our music project teaches that music is part of every life and there are many applications to the use of music in our daily lives. Music at our school comes in many shapes and forms.

Our project is using music apps to learn to read and reinforce music notes and rhythms in our choirs and bands, we use them to help record practice sessions so that we can hear and see growth in our singers and players.

We write music in our guitar classes and create presentations about musical cultures in all of our classes.

iPads help us complete these activities.
